Hush now, don't you cry.. Venus Doom's gonna sing you a lullaby
one that's five years old
and tells the tale of a mustang
You see children, Venus was a mare
She stood but 15.2 hands high
And she was pretty thing, a palomino paint hue
with a flaxen mane and tail
There were no markings on her, thank Alma
And her eyes were dark as night
But children, there was a neutral mind in her, that swayed her towards the darkness frequently.
The mare had a troubled past. You see, she wasn't brought up in a stable environment. Her harem was frequently being taken over by new stallions who fought the old, each bachelor breeding a few mares before the next killed him and took over his job. This left the herd vulnerable, for it meant that the foals born by the previous leader were certainly killed at birth. Luckily Venus was spared, for she was a yearling when the instability started to happen. She watched as precious siblings were eliminated, and aunts and older sisters were bred over and over again, while she was still a growing lass. Her mother, as old as she was, had been left out of the 'fun', trying to show Venus that what was happening out there was not the ways of a level-headed horse, and that she must learn balance. Balance between the goodness in her heart, and the darkness that wanted to turn her into a warrior of death. Her dam, Diana, saw that darkness always trying to break free, trying to turn her dear filly, the last of her get. She wanted to protect her.
So on one night, before her daughter turned two, the pair tried sneaking out into open land, where they could roam until they found a better herd, to maybe show her the goodness in the world. But, as they just reached the boundary line of the herd, the leader approached with as much speed as a cheetah, cutting the two off and trying to herd them back to the others. Diana did not sway, the aged mare standing her ground and protecting her filly, her grey body taking every blow the dark leader gave to her. He had no mercy for the grey mare, and he beat her to a pulp. He started to forget about Venus, and begun to annihilate poor Diana, who had no chance. Venus had galloped off mid-battle, and hadn't seen the death of her dear old mother. But by the sounds in the distance, she knew her dam wouldn't be following her into new land. The filly was alone, not knowing where she was going. Lost she was, but she knew she would not be going back. Not ever.
But she now believed that kindness was not in an horse's heart. The darkness tried to consume, but it battled with the light within and created the filly's new personality. This persona called itself Venus Doom. A neutral, always fighting what was inside.
Now children, don't let that story scare you. Venus is really a laid back lass, who rarely goes into battle for the sport of it. She fights only when she needs to..but that only goes for physical battle. In a battle of words, she is more than welcome to participate. She's got a mouth on her, and it shows because she knows just what sensitive points to hit to make you go crying to your mommy. But in the end, if the two of you are friends, she will apologize and try to make it up to you. She isn't happy and go-lucky all the time, but she's got a level head on her shoulders...unless the nightmares of her past come. That's usually when she'll have a short personality change, and it's usually to her darker counterpart, Venus Doom. That persona is quite mean and pushy, and doesn't give a damn about anyone's feelings, and lives quite dangerously. But with a gentle tongue and a high tolerance, one can bring her back to normal.
